Expectations

I've recently realized that I need to change my expectations for when I come home.  The list is horribly long and honestly unattainable.  For the sanity of myself and to save my family from a crazy women - I'm adjusting my expectations.  If we have too high expectations then we are setting ourselves up for failure.  I can feel it in my heart now... I KNOW these things that I *want* to get done are not actually going to get done and it's only going to send me into despair.  I need to evaluate what things actually *need* to get done and then have a list of "if you have time do these things".  (Cause we all know SAHM have a ton of extra time on their hands!).

Below were my beginning expectations and then follows my revised ones :) Enjoy!

Previous Expectations:
Have a clean house every day
Do one load of laundry, fold and put away every day
Exercise 60 minutes 6 times a week
Organize all my 'stuff' in the spare bedroom (gifts, pictures, books, avon stuff, candles, etc, etc, etc)
Vacuum the entire house once a week
Work on helping my children achieve self-control (ie- sitting through a church service quietly)
Create and loosely stick to a menu plan (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
Require first time (or at least second time) obedience from my children.
Begin a daily quiet time with God
Exercise for at least 30 minutes - 3 to 4 times a week.
Get a shower every day (ok at least every other day)
Sweep the kitchen at least twice a week
Work on helping my children achieve self-control (ie- sitting through a church service quietly)

  1. It is hard! You think that once you are a SAHM you will be able to keep up on house cleaning, laundry, teaching your kids manners, etc and all before lunch. It never works that way.

All you can do is have a plan and know that most days you will get it all done, but there will be some when you feel like you can't get one thing on the list done.

Just know that you are giving your kids a HUGE and WONDERFUL gift by being able to stay home with them, give them that love and attention, and begin your homeschool journey early!

  2. Your house will possibly be messier (because everyone is using it all day) but your heart will be happier!!!! :)

  3. you have to remember your children are young and not going to be able to sit through a church service. At there age they shouldn't be expected to either.
I agree with Jen your house will probably end up messier with people being home all day everyday.
    Good luck and enjoy!
